How do I know when to fertilize my plant?

How do I know when to fertilize my plant?

Most fertilizer manufacturers provide feeding schedules for light, moderate and heavy feeding. We recommend following the guidelines that come from the manufacturer.

An alternative approach is to use plant sensing such as a chlorophyll meter to assess plant chlorophyll status (directly related to nitrogen use) or tissue sampling for nutrient status.

The best way to know when to feed is to look at your plants. Look for yellowing, dullness, white spots, or simply a lack of vigorous growth. Trust your judgement; you will know when your plants need nutrients!
