Tell me about your coir - I've heard there can be problems with salts in coir.
Our coconut coir is sourced from only the best producers. We use coir of different size grades. Our coir products are OMRI and RHP certified. We have contracts with our suppliers to ensure quality control on pH and EC (salt content). Our experience is that coir is naturally high in potassium.
Buffering is commonly used to prepare coir when it is 100% of the growing media. This can be done by the manufacturer or grower during the process of hydrating the coir. It is common practice to flush coir at the time of planting with a product such as Cal Mag. All of our soils are buffered and typically should not need an initial Cal Mag Flush. However, we do recommend that you continue to use your normal Cal Mag protocol.
