What should I do if I think I over-fertilized and burned my plants?
Over-fertilization is not always the cause of distressed-looking plants and is less common than some may think. You should be very careful to rule out other causes, such as transplant shock, lack of root growth, plant disease, or simply overwatered plants. Checking the EC of the media using the pour thru method will help you determine if the media has too many salts in concentration.
If your plants look unhealthy and you're sure you over-fertilized, avoid excessive flushing. If plants are well established, water to run off with Cal/Mag and then give the plant time to recover. If a plant is newly transplanted, you can consider repotting transferring the plant into new soil, without adding fertilizer. Then, when the plants show signs of yellowing, fertilize with a nitrogen based fertilizer.
